The KV Storm 15U team finished Sunday right where they left off in July, adding yet another tournament championship to their war chest.
The team headed to Huntley on Sunday to compete in the Scarecrow Slam hosted by the Huntley Park District and the Red Raiders Fastpitch program. The ladies finished pool play 2-0-1 which was good enough based on runs allowed to advance them to the two game bracket finals. They beat the Freeport Crush 14-2, tied the Roselle Rockers Purple 7-7 and beat the Elgin Impact 12-0 in pool play. Faith Reynolds, Mindy Smits and Olivia Simmons earned MVP awards during pool play.
In the semi-finals the Storm beat the Mokena Blast 7-4, moving them to the championship game. In the final game the ladies faced the undefeated Wheaton Wildcats and defeated them 6-1 earning them the tournament championship. Over the 14 hour day and 5 games, the offense provided 46 runs while the solid pitching and defense allowed just 14. Congratulations ladies!
