Kishwaukee Valley Storm

The Kishwaukee Valley Storm Softball Organization was started in 2001 with the goal of fundamentally improving the talents of our players.  Throughout the years,  the fundamental goals have led to confidence and the confidence has led to championships.

UPDATED!  Pitchers/Catchers will be during the first 1/2 hour of each tryout session!

Tryouts for the 2019/2020 Kishwaukee Valley Storm Teams will be held at the dates and times below.  All tryouts will be held at the Sycamore Community Park (click for map) on Fields 9-12.

Wednesday, July 31, 5:30-8:00 pm 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U & 18U
     Pitchers/Catchers at 5:30 Position Players 6:00 pm

Saturday, August 3, 9:00-11:30 am 16U & 18U
     Pitchers/Catchers at 9:00 am Postion Players at 9:30 am
                                             1:00-3:30 pm 10U, 12U & 14U
     Pitchers/Catchers at 1:00 pm Position Players at 1:30 pm

Sunday, August 4, 9:00-11:30 am 10U, 12U & 14U
     Pitchers/Catchers at 9:00 am Postion Players at 9:30 am

Saturday, August 10, 9:00-11:30 am 16U & 18U
     Pitchers/Catchers at 9:00 am Postion Players at 9:30 am  
                                                1:00-3:30 pm 10U, 12U & 14U
     Pitchers/Catchers at 1:00 pm Position Players at 1:30 pm

Registration is available online at the link below or onsite beginning one half hour prior to the times listed above.  Pitchers/catchers will perform during the FIRST PORTION of each tryout session.

2020 Kishwaukee Valley Storm Coaches (updated!)

18U- Head Coach Jim Varga.  Coach Varga will enter his 20th season with the Storm organization as a Head or Assistant Coach.  His assistants for the 2020 season will be Tim Simmons and Hannah Weatherly.    Tim is the current head coach of our 16U team this year and has assisted in past years as well.  Hannah played numerous years in the Storm program and played college softball at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa.

16U- Head Coach Steve Heide.  Coach Heide will enter his 20th and final season as a Head Coach for the Storm Organization.  He will be joined by Isabel Odom & Brooke English who will be entering their 3rd seasons as assistant coaches.   Isabel & Brooke played numerous years with the organization, played prep ball with the Sycamore Spartans and in college at Kishwaukee Community College.  Also helping out during some winter practices and next summer will be Ally Versluys.   Ally coached with the team this year and also played for the Storm organization, the Sycamore Spartans and is currently enrolled and playing softball for the Indiana Tech Warriors in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

14U- Head Coach Duke Mitchell.  Coach Mitchell will enter his 3rd season as a Head Coach for the Storm Organization.  He will be joined by Faith Roush in her 2nd season as an assistant coach.  Faith played 3 seasons with Storm,  her prep ball at Rochelle Township High School and is currently a member of the Kishwaukee Community College Softball team.

College Scholarships

The USSSA E.A. Ramsey College Scholarship award is reserved for high school students (and USSSA athletes or youth sports officials!) who during the year of application are in their senior year of high school and already accepted into the college of their choice*. USSSA is currently awarding scholarships in Slow Pitch softball, fast pitch softball, baseball, and basketball. Other sports may be added as participation in those sports increases and interest is shown.

19th Annual Storm Dayz Information

Thank you to everyone that attended the 19th Annual Storm Dayz Tournament.  We look forward to hosting you again in 2020 for the 20th Annual Tournament.  Please look for the Coaches email in early November.

The Sycamore Spartans defeated the St. Francis Spartans
3-0 Saturday afternoon to claim the Illinois Class 3A State Championship!  

Congratulations to the players!  Amanda Swedberg, Faith Reynolds, Gracyn Gabriel, Mindy Smits, Mia Richards, Kenzie Schlosser, Hannah Mizgalski, Milani Sablan, Haley Trela, Erin Simmons, Ally Polly, Shannon Edwards and Emmalee Torson.
